Spring League

For Girls in 4th to 8th Grade

The Spring league is a shorter, less intensive volleyball experience. This is governed by the Wisconsin Independent Volleyball League.

The Spring league is limited to players living in the Hudson School District only (This is a league rule, not a Club rule).

The league will run from March to mid May.  Players will practice 2 nights per week during the season.  Tournaments typically begin in April and run on Saturdays through mid-May.    Players will participate in 4 of the league dates and/or the final championship tournament.  League dates will consist of 3 matches on Saturday's.  League matches are played in various locations in Western and Central Wisconsin, usually within a one-hour drive.

Players are responsible for their own transportation to and from the events.

Please watch for registration information in early-January.  Please check back to the website for additional information.  Questions specific to Spring League can be directed to hudsonvolleyballwi@gmail.com.

GENERAL SPRING LEAGUE INFORMATION

Objective
While the girls will get a chance to play in a significant number of volleyball matches, the main focus will be during practice by teaching the fundamentals of the game, perfecting the basic skills, and learning how to be a positive team player.  The girls will then have the opportunity to take what they learn in practice and apply it in competitive game situations.

Team Composition
The volleyball league has grade divisions 4/5th, 6th, 7th and 8th.  Skill assessments may be needed for 6th-8th graders and will be scheduled in early February.  If your daughter cannot make that date, you will need to contact hudsonvolleyballwi@gmail.com.  All teams will be assigned prior to the first practice and parents will be notified.  Teams will be kept to 10 players.

Practice
Practices will be held 2 times a week for 90 minutes starting around the end of March held at Hudson school gyms.  Due to the number of teams, practices could be any day of the week.  Players will be expected to attend practices or their play time will be reduced.  All absences or late arrivals should be communicated in advance to the coaching staff.  Please consider the involvement your child has in other activities and sports before registering for this team sport.  Each player is a vital component to the team dynamic and missing practices can inhibit the player from building upon their skills and bonding with the team.  Practice scheduled for the upcoming month will be known by the preceding mid-month, which will be available on our calendar and communicated by your teams coach.

Play Dates/Tournaments
Matches are played on Saturdays from April through mid-May.  A league championship tournament (LCT) will be played for 7th/8th Grade mid-May.   Teams will play 3 matches and will typically be scheduled for 4 play dates.  Only 7th/8th grade will have an option to play in the League Championship Tournament.

Parent Responsibility
Hudson will have the opportunity to host several home tournaments.  We try to have one for each grade level.  We can't host these tournaments without volunteer help.

Unlike other organizations that demand you give a Volunteer check that is held until you fulfill your obligations, we ask that all families volunteer 2-4 hours of time at home tournaments in which your daughter plays.  The time can be donated by mom, dad, a grandparent or older sibling, etc... Type of work includes:  pre-tournament prep, selling concessions, taking admissions, keeping score, tournament set-up/take-down, clean-up, etc...

This is a travelling volleyball program.  You will have to commute to other communities, some may be near and others may not.  (Most are an hour drive or less.)
